2015 SEASON

With two seasons successfully completed, the orchestra has now established a reputation for quality playing and stylish presentation. With the 2014 Season finished, three additional members were invited to join the LCSO administration team. New members include Monica Hart, Country Arts SA Grants Advisor and Stage Manager, Ann Aldersey, Executive Officer of SELGA and other Boards and Dr Chris Waite, Beachport composer and percussionist. With two concerts again planned for 2015 and a growing list of administrative tasks to promote the LCSO, the larger team is another step in the development of a permanent regional orchestra.

This year, a nine week rehearsal period from April 28 culminated in concerts in late June. The 2015 season was launched on Thursday 18th June with a cocktail party, followed by two concerts:

  • Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre, Saturday 27th June at 7.30 p.m.

  • Naracoorte Town Hall, Sunday 28th June at 2.00 p.m.

The same program was performed at both venues under the conductorship of Angus Christie and featured:

    • Elspeth Bawden, soprano, singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables and  “V’Adoro Pupille” from Handel’s opera Julius Caesar.

    • Cathy Foster, violinist, playing the theme from “Schindler’s  List” by John Williams

    • Matt Toffolon, bassoonist, playing the second movement of Mozart’s Bb Bassoon Concerto
