2017 SEASON

This year, the Limestone Symphony Orchestra celebrated its fifth joyous season. The 2017 program was especially designed to highlight some of our most talented local soloists.

Included in this line-up were sopranos Vivienne Dowling and Amy Williams singing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu and the ravishing Panis Angelicus. French Horn player Tameka Nube performed Mozart with the orchestra and pianist Daniel Lynn played the world premiere of “Alban’s Theme” by Warrnambool-based composer, Ken Stott. Other soloists included guitarist Michael Walsh and flautist Scott Gunn, performing an original arrangement of Stanley Myers "Cavatina" (from The Deer Hunter) by Dr Chris Waite, and a performance by trumpeter Daniel Caton.

Now in its second season with the orchestra, the Limestone Coast Symphonic Chorus performed several works, including Howard Goodall’s version of “The  Lord Is My Shepherd”, made famous as the theme for the TV series The Vicar of Dibley.

Also on the program were selected orchestral favourites from Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Holst, Wagner and Arthur Sullivan with Klaus Badelt’s thrilling “Pirates of the Caribbean” which completed an evening of exhilarating music with soloists and members of the Limestone Coast Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
